The SLG is a distinctive and elegant setting for a range of private functions, receptions and corporate events. As a registered charity, all income generated from venue hire directly supports the gallery’s education and artistic programmes.

The Clore Studio forms part of the gallery’s recent award-winning expansion by 6a architects and has capacity for up to 60 people. Its contemporary skylight and fully pivoting doors into the gallery’s rear garden make this a fresh, light and airy space, which can also be fully blacked out for film screenings and presentations. This is an accessible, self-contained and flexible studio with seating, induction loop, projection facilities, kitchenette, toilet and cloakroom area. The Clore Studio is the perfect setting for a training course, away day, product and media launch, photo shoot, dinner party, drinks reception, or wedding and civil partnership ceremony and celebration.

The main gallery is an impressive, high ceilinged Victorian hall which has been the South London Gallery’s primary exhibition space since it opened in 1891. This magnificent room benefits from an original skylight and opens out onto the gallery's large rear garden. With capacity for 150 seated and 200 standing, the gallery is an ideal space for a wedding or civil partnership ceremony, reception, photo shoot, fully catered dinner or large-scale party. The main gallery is only available to hire between exhibitions and thus on very occasional days and evenings throughout the year.

The stunning double height room on the ground floor of the gallery overlooks the beautiful Fox Garden. The walls of this light and airy contemporary space feature artist Paul Morrison’s striking gold leaf wall drawing, Asplenium. With its long oak table, the double height room is ideal for meetings and dining, but it can also be used for standing receptions from 6.30pm. The double height room is available for hire when the café is closed to the public: Sunday to Tuesday evenings and all day Mondays.
